HORSEPOWER

CARGO VOLUME

When it comes to power and performance, the Honda Accord knocks it out of the park. Lift the hood of the standard trim and you’ll find a 1.5L turbo engine, complete with 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. While the standard engine on the Toyota is a larger 1.8L, it only generates 139 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque.
Plus, the1.5L engine of the Honda also includes Eco Assist™, which helps you be a more efficient driver in stop-and-go traffic.
They do, however, share some performance similarities. For example, each vehicle offers available drive mode systems among their higher trim levels. This allows drivers to adapt to road and weather conditions more easily, thus staying more in control on the roadways. They both also come standard with front-wheel drive.

We’ll let the numbers answer this one. Up front, the Honda Accord provides tons of room for you and your passengers. Unfortunately, the Toyota Corolla just isn’t as roomy up front. Check out the front row dimensions:
Honda Accord
|
Toyota Corolla
|
|
---|---|---|
Headroom | 39.5 inches | 38.3 inches |
Legroom | 42.3 inches | 42 inches |
Shoulder room | 58.3 inches | 54 inches |
Hip room | 55.3 inches | 53.9 inches |
While we’re in the front row, we should also mention that the Accord comes standard with Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control. Corolla drivers will have to upgrade to a higher trim level if they want to experience this feature.
People aren’t the only things that will enjoy some extra space inside the Accord. Your luggage, backpacks, or groceries will fit nicely amongst 16.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume. Unfortunately, Toyota only brings 13.1 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume to the Corolla.

This answer is almost a tie, as both the Accord and the Corolla offer these following safety advantages—all standard, we may add:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keeping/Tracing Assist
- Traffic Sign Recognition
There is one thing that does give the Accord a bit of a safety edge, though. It’s known as ACE™ (Advanced Compatibility Engineering™) Body Structure. This Honda-exclusive body design uses a network of front frame structures to deflect and absorb energy caused by a frontal collision. You’ll find this design element built into every trim of the Accord, too.
Of course, as mentioned above, it’s Honda-exclusive, so you won’t find it in the Corolla.
